My name is Haley Kirtley and I am a senior at Western Kentucky University. I graduate in May with a Degree in the Visual Arts with a concentration in Art Education. To be certified as a teacher, a semester of student teaching is required. I will be qualified to teach k-12. Because of that, I had to student teach in two different placements, which included, Warren Central High and Lost River/Rockfield Elementary School. Western Kentucky University offers the opportunity to student teach aboard. Through this program, I choose to have an adventure in China. My student teaching is divided into three segments, 7 weeks at my high school placement, 6 weeks at my elementary school placement, and 4 weeks at a school in China. In China, I will student teach at Baoding Eastern Bilingual School. I will teach English to over 25 classes of about 50 students. Read my postings and reflections about my experiences in China as a student teacher.
